Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery – M.B.B.S.

The study period of 5 ½ years is divided into four phases as under:

Semesters are of six months duration each during I / II / III M.B.B.S. {Part I & II} and Internship training is distributed in Medicine & allied branches, Surgery & allied branches, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Community Medicine. The Medium of Instruction is English.

Obst./Gynae. Including Family Welfare Planning 2 months

Orthopaedics including PMR 1 month
ENT 15 days
Ophthalmology 15 days
Casualty 15 days
Elective posting (1X15 days) 15 days

Each semester comprises of approximately 120 days of teaching with 8 ½ hours of teaching work. Examinations are taken at the completion of the respective terms and ward postings throughout the course of study. Preliminary examinations based upon the pattern of the respective university examination for I / II / III {Part I & II} M.B.B.S. are taken before the University examination. As per the current guidelines of the Medical Council of India (MCI) , minimum 75 % attendance and 35 % marks are required to be eligible to appear at the University examination. Minimum passing marks in all Internal, Preliminary and University Examination are 50%.

Must have completed 17 years as on 31st December of year of admission to the main course.

Admission Criteria:

The candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with B-group and AB-group from –

  • Gujarat Board
  • Central Board of Secondary Education
  • Council of Indian School Certificate Examination Board

Qualifying Marks:

  • General category candidate including EWS must obtain 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together
  • General PH candidate must secure 45% marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC excluding creamy layer and PH candidates 40% marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology

The seat allotment procedure for the medical colleges of the Gujarat commences generally in the month of July. Admission Committee for Professional Medical Education (ACPMEC) organizes the seat allotment for the state quota candidates. ACPMEC offers the seats for medical colleges of Gujarat. The rules and reservation laid down by the admission committee will be implemented on the state quota candidates.

Fees are as per Government Rules and every new academic year starts from July and ends in June.
